Preserving, Protecting, and Promoting the Historical Church Buildings of Fremont County, Colorado by increasing the wider community's sense of ownership of these buildings.

Who we are

The Historic Church Conservancy of Fremont County (HCC) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization designed to provide relief to church congregations over-burdened by the responsibilities of protecting, preserving and maintaining historic church buildings and associated real properties.

HCC was started in June of 2017 to honor the wishes of the United Presbyterian Church of Canon City as part of a two-pronged strategy to preserve the historic church building located at 701 Macon Avenue in Canon City, Colorado and continue the church’s mission by starting a new church plant. The HCC was designed to be scalable so that other churches in the county who face similar situations of declining congregation and budget size would have options to lift their burden and continue their missions with a smaller budget.
